If you have not yet heard about the benefits of cannabidiol, you are going to want to read this whole article!
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound found in the cannabis plant, although it is not-psychoactive.
Unlike the compound THC which is known for causing the “high” associated with cannabis, CBD is legal throughout the United States.
Although research is still limited and on-going about the medicinal benefits of CBD, this compound is on the rise as one of the most prominent health and fitness products!

Benefits of CBD for Athletes
As a professional basketball player, CBD has become an increasingly important part of my life over the last 4-5 months.
Before I discovered the benefits of cannabidiol, I was using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs daily to combat pain and inflammation in my body.
However, this is not healthy!
NSAIDs have been linked to many health issues, and recently one study showed that Ibuprofen can cause infertility!
I don’t know about you, but I am not interested in risking this!
CBD is excellent for athletes because it is a potent anti-inflammatory compound and is excellent for managing chronic pain.
Personally, I discovered the benefits of cannabidiol while I was recovering from a fracture in my spine.
Prior to CBD, I was using NSAIDs and corticosteroid injections which were wearing my body down by the day.
CBD is the natural alternative to pain medications such as these, and even opioids.
For athletes, there is probably not a better product for treating pain, inflammation, and a host of other health issues with come from competing.
CBD for Stress and Anxiety
There are tons of prominent benefits of CBD, including the ability to help-treat anxiety, stress, depression, and other mental issues such as these.
Although there is not enough conclusive evidence currently, anecdotal reports of the efficacy of CBD to treat these issues shows a huge amount of promise.
Personally, I have dealt with the neurological condition Tourette’s Syndrome since I was 10 years old.
Along with consistent motor tics which have been prevalent in my life since I first developed this issue, I have also dealt with increased anxiety and stress due to this disorder.
Although I have never felt “relief” from Tourette’s with other treatment options, CBD has worked wonders for me.
There is quite a bit of research on the connection of cannabis and Tourette’s and I can confidently say that it has helped with my condition.
How Can You Use CBD in Your Life?
One of the biggest issues with CBD products is that it is a bit of a “wild-west,” as it is not well-regulated enough yet.
Once you find a company that you trust, there are many ways to use CBD in your life depending on what your health issue is.
Personally, I use both orally ingestible CBD and CBD topicals.
My personal “regiment” with CBD is to start the morning without approximately 25mg of CBD in tincture form in my morning tea.
Along with the health benefits listed above, CBD itself is an excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids and other crucial nutrients.
Many CBD tinctures are also mixed with either MCT oil, grapeseed oil, or hemp seed oil as well, which are all additional sources of health fatty acids.
I personally choose to use CBD in my morning tea or coffee each day, and then head out for a brisk walk or short workout.
CBD tinctures itself have enough nutrients to get your body running and can help improve your metabolism over time.
Following my initial use of CBD in the morning, I will normally need to use my tincture two more times during the day.
By using CBD with this regiment, I can go through my day without experiencing an onslaught of tics and anxiety.
Along with the tinctures, I also prefer to use a CBD rub for pain one or two times per day.
If you have pain in a localized area of your body, a topical CBD product will probably work great for you!
The number of milligrams of CBD you need per day will be totally dependent on your own body. Some people need much more, others much less.
I normally use about 75mg-100mg per day, but you could be totally different.
How Else Can You Use CBD?
Along with these uses I have already listed, there are plenty of other ways to use CBD in your life.
Companies have begun to make a wide-variety of cosmetic products which contain CBD, and they have shown to be effective for managing wrinkles, eczema, cellulite, and other skin conditions.
CBD tinctures and gel capsules are very common, but gummy bears, chocolate, drinks (such as water), and other forms of CBD products are all being produced as well.
Whatever form of CBD you would like to use, it is probably on the market already!
There are so many incredible benefits of this product, it is clear why more people are beginning to use it!
CBD is not just a nutritional supplement to be used by bodybuilders or people looking to get in shape, it has many medicinal benefits that are currently being explored.
Research on CBD is limited at this time, but more and more studies are being conducted on its different medical uses.
It is always wise to talk to a doctor before using any new supplement or product, but CBD is reported to be safe for use and non-addictive by even the World Health Organization.
CBD has made an impressive impact on my day-to-day quality of life over the last few months, and I am confident many others will love this product as well!
